Experiencing Thai Massage

Thai massage is making headlines again and we love this ancient healing treatment. Committed to offering an authentic experience, Spa Pangéa’s lead massage therapist spent six intense weeks in Thailand back in 2004 studying the philosophy, methods and culture. Spa Pangéa’s entire staff has since been knowledgeable and passionate about the Thai approach.

Thai Massage

This harmonizing experience of stretching, massage strokes, and yoga-like positions, traditional Thai Massage is performed on a mat and the guest is guided into classic, beautiful movements by the therapist. The nurturing touch of human contact contributes to the relaxation and healing effect.

To begin, the therapist places a warm, aromatic roll underneath your neck and instructs you to simply concentrate on taking slow, deep breaths. This is a passive treatment, where you relax and surrender control of your limbs to the therapist.  Beginning with your toes and ending at your head, all of your joints are stretched and soothed.  As resistance from a joint is met, your therapist applies gentle pressure with the weight of her body until all of your muscles and sinews release and move into deeper and deeper ranges of motion.

In order for Thai Massage to be most effective you should stay relaxed, breathing deeply and allow the therapist to gently and patiently lift, move and apply pressure to your body in order to stretch your limbs into deeper ranges of motion. Your hour slips away in what seems like minutes and before you realize how it actually happened, your therapist is finishing with a last gentle pull and tug at your earlobes and a soothing scalp massage. At the end of the massage, you will feel simultaneously energized, yet relaxed. This is normal and the desired result of your massage.

Performed on a routine basis, Thai Massage will help you feel energized, relaxed and ready to move smoothly through your day with a lighter, more elastic step!
