How to Have Beautiful Lips
Lips come in all sizes and shapes. You might have a small upper lip, or your lips might gradually disappear as they move to the lateral borders. Your lips may have always been less full than you would like, or you might have noticed that your lips have lost volume as you’ve aged. Many of us have noticed those vertical lines (smokers lines) around the mouth, even if you have never smoked!
Lips have become a big deal. All the actresses have amazing lips! Were they really born that way? Probably not. (I will let you in on a little secret. I have done a few cosmetic enhancements to my face.) The one thing my husband of 37 years really noticed and liked were my new lips. Men notice lips. Unfortunately, we have all seen lips that were perhaps a little over done, and that might scare you when it comes to trying it out yourself.
The natural proportions of the lips is 1/3 upper lip and 2/3 lower lip. A large number of women only want the upper lip filled, giving a 50/50 ratio. This doesn’t look quite natural. In reality, you want the lower lip about 50% larger than the upper lip. In the past, the lips have been looked at as having four main “pillows” that can be affected with filler. There are two in the upper lip that create the cupid’s bow, and two on the bottom. When the lips are closed, these pillows come together. Volume has been added to the lips by first lining the lips and then filling these four pillows.
The good news is beautiful lips are possible with Radiesse, a filler made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a natural gel. Basically, these tiny microspheres form a kind of “scaffold” to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen. Over time, theses microspheres break down and are naturally absorbed by your body but, in the meantime, Radiesse has been working to rebuild your skin’s foundation and restore a youthful look to your lips (and face, if you choose). Radiesse typically lasts a year or more.
